Washington · USA
Vedic astrology for a birth in Washington state
Washington state is Pacific time even on its eastern side, and vedic astrology uses America/Los_Angeles. Seattle, Bellevue, and Redmond are in that zone. A birth in the eastern part of the state does not switch to Mountain time. Daylight saving changes the minutes, which are applied before the Julian day and can move the sidereal lagna. The state name has to mean this state, not the federal district, and the birth city still has to be named.

The east of the state stays Pacific
Spokane is Pacific time, America/Los_Angeles, with daylight saving. So is Seattle. They are not one geocode. Type the city on the record. Do not assign Mountain time because the map looks inland, and do not confuse the state with a district on the other coast that shares the name Washington. Jyothish SI geocodes the city you type and applies the Pacific minutes for that date.
Bellevue and Redmond are not Seattle
Bellevue and Redmond use the Seattle zone and their own places. A birth in either, saved as Seattle, can keep the offset and lose the location. Type the city the record uses. Leave the clock time alone, including during daylight saving. Lahiri ayanamsa and Swiss Ephemeris place the Moon nakshatra after the offset. The Vimshottari dasha already running is that chart's timer, not a year for the state.
Houses, then extras
When work is the topic, use the 10th house and its lord. The marriage houses are the 7th, its lord, and the Navamsa chart. A free account includes the chart and a chat about it. Paid plans include a PDF, extra divisional charts, and WhatsApp transit alerts. A resident of Washington state who was born in another zone should enter the birth city.

Frequently asked questions
Is eastern Washington state on Mountain time?
No. Vedic astrology for Washington state uses America/Los_Angeles, with daylight saving, including the eastern side. Spokane and Seattle share the zone and not a geocode.
Are Bellevue and Redmond calculated as Seattle?
They use the same Pacific offset. Each city is geocoded under its own name. Type the city on the record.
Which Washington is this?
Washington state, on Pacific time. The birth city should make that plain so the geocoder does not resolve a different Washington.
