Vedic astrology for a Minnesota birth
The whole of Minnesota stays on Central time, and vedic astrology uses America/Chicago even in the counties that touch a split state. Daylight saving changes the minutes. Those minutes are applied before the Julian day and can move the sidereal lagna. Minneapolis uses this zone. A birth in another Minnesota city shares the offset and still has to be geocoded under its own name.

The western counties do not switch
Nothing in Minnesota moves to Mountain time. A birth near the Dakota line is still America/Chicago. Type that city, not a city across the border where the zone can change, and not Minneapolis unless the record says Minneapolis. Jyothish SI geocodes the string you give it. The Central offset, daylight or standard, is chosen from the date after the place is known.
One clock hour, two seasons
An 8 on the certificate in January and an 8 in July are different offsets inside America/Chicago. Type the 8 either way. Do not subtract an hour in summer to be tidy. The Moon nakshatra is sidereal, Lahiri ayanamsa, Swiss Ephemeris, taken after the minutes are applied. The Vimshottari dasha already running belongs to that instant, not to a year printed for the state.
Career and the free chart
Career does not leave the 10th house or the lord of that house. For marriage, read the 7th house together with its lord and the Navamsa. A free account can generate the Kundli and chat about those houses. The PDF and the extra divisional charts, plus WhatsApp transit alerts, are paid. If you live in Minnesota and were born elsewhere, the birth city wins over the state you live in now.

Frequently asked questions
Does western Minnesota use Mountain time?
No. Vedic astrology for Minnesota uses America/Chicago, with daylight saving, statewide. The birth city is geocoded inside that zone, including Minneapolis.
Is a July birth the same offset as a January birth?
No. Daylight saving changes the minutes applied before the Julian day. The sidereal lagna can change with them. Type the clock time as printed.
What timing does the chart use?
The Vimshottari dasha already running, calculated from the birth data. This page does not publish a dasha year.
