Vedic astrology for a Michigan birth
Michigan is mostly Eastern time, and vedic astrology keeps a Central-time exception in a few counties of the western Upper Peninsula. Detroit is America/New_York. Those western Upper Peninsula counties are not. The state, written by itself, does not select the offset. The birth city does. Geocoding comes first, then the minutes, then the Julian day. Daylight saving on the side you were born can still move the sidereal lagna.

Detroit and most of the state
A Detroit birth uses America/New_York, with daylight saving. Type Detroit, the clock time, and the date. Do not file it as Central time because a map of the Upper Peninsula made you unsure. Most Michigan births are Eastern. Jyothish SI applies that offset before the Julian day. The Lahiri ayanamsa and Swiss Ephemeris place the Moon nakshatra after the minutes are set. Leave the hour as printed.
The western Upper Peninsula
A few counties in the western Upper Peninsula use Central time. This page will not name a town there and hope. If the record places the birth in that part of the state, type the city so the Central offset, with daylight saving when it applied, can be used. Guessing 'Michigan' attaches neither zone with confidence. The lagna, the nakshatra, and the running Vimshottari dasha all depend on the guess you refused to make.
Houses after the exception is settled
The marriage houses are the 7th, its lord, and the Navamsa chart. A work question belongs to the 10th house and its lord. A free account can generate the Kundli and chat once the city has chosen Eastern or Central. You need a paid plan for the PDF, extra divisional charts, and WhatsApp transit alerts. The wrong peninsula offset is enough to move the lagna before those houses mean anything.

Frequently asked questions
Is Detroit on Eastern time?
Yes. Vedic astrology for Detroit uses America/New_York, with daylight saving. A few counties in the western Upper Peninsula use Central time instead.
Does the state name settle a Michigan chart?
No. The state is mostly Eastern, not entirely. The Kundli needs the birth city because the state name alone does not fix the offset.
What does the free Kundli return?
The sidereal lagna, the Moon nakshatra, and the Vimshottari dasha already running, calculated after the city's offset is applied before the Julian day.
