Vedic astrology for a Kentucky birth
Kentucky keeps two clocks, and vedic astrology puts Louisville on Eastern time while the western counties stay on Central time. Louisville is America/New_York. A birth in the western counties is not. The state name does not fix the offset, so the Kundli needs the birth city. That city is geocoded, and the minutes are applied before the Julian day. Daylight saving on the chosen side can still move the lagna.

Louisville's offset
Type Louisville when the birth was there. The zone is America/New_York, with daylight saving. The clock time goes in as printed. Jyothish SI applies the Eastern offset for that date. A summer birth and a winter birth do not share those minutes. The sidereal lagna is calculated after the minutes are in place, with the Lahiri ayanamsa and Swiss Ephemeris. Do not give Louisville a Central label because another Kentucky county uses one.
Western counties
The western counties use Central time. They do not inherit Louisville's zone because Louisville is the city people name first. Enter the western city itself. The geocoder attaches the Central offset, including daylight saving when it applied. If the only memory is the state, the chart has no basis for choosing Eastern or Central, and the Moon nakshatra will be taken from the wrong instant.
Two charts at one clock hour
Once the side is right, you get the sidereal lagna, the Moon nakshatra, and the Vimshottari dasha already running. The 7th house, its lord, and the D9 Navamsa are for marriage. The 10th and its lord are for career. A free account includes the Kundli and the chat. The two Kentucky offsets are different charts even when the clock agrees.

Frequently asked questions
Is Louisville on Eastern time?
Yes. Vedic astrology for Louisville uses America/New_York, with daylight saving. The western counties of Kentucky use Central time. The birth city picks the side.
Can the state name stand in for the city?
No. Kentucky is split, so the state name does not fix the offset. The birth city is geocoded before the minutes are applied.
What timing does the Kundli use?
The Vimshottari dasha already running on the sidereal chart for that city and offset. No dasha year is assigned on this page.
