Vedic astrology for a Florida birth
Florida does not give vedic astrology a single offset, because the peninsula and the western panhandle disagree. Miami, Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville use Eastern time. The western panhandle, including Pensacola, uses Central time. The state name on its own does not fix the minutes. The birth city is geocoded, and that city's offset is applied before the Julian day.

The peninsula stays Eastern
Miami, Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville are America/New_York, and they observe daylight saving. Tampa faces the Gulf and is still Eastern. A summer birth in any of these cities uses the daylight minutes of that zone, which can move the sidereal lagna relative to the same clock hour in winter. Type the clock time and the real city. Do not file a Tampa birth as Pensacola time.
Pensacola is the Central example
A Pensacola birth is not cast on America/New_York. Call the panhandle side Central time, type Pensacola or the actual panhandle city, and let the geocoder attach the Central offset, including daylight saving when it was in force. If you only remember Florida, the chart has two offsets and no way to pick. The lagna, the Moon nakshatra, and the running Vimshottari dasha all sit on the instant you chose.
Houses move with the wrong side
Marriage reads the 7th house, its lord, and the D9 Navamsa. An Eastern lagna and a Central lagna at the same clock time are different charts, so those houses are not portable across the split. A free account generates the Kundli and opens chat on that chart. Extra divisional charts, a PDF, and WhatsApp transit alerts require a paid plan. None of them repair a city typed on the wrong side.

Frequently asked questions
Is Miami on Eastern time for a Kundli?
Yes. Vedic astrology for Miami uses America/New_York. Pensacola, in the western panhandle, uses Central time. The birth city picks the side of Florida.
Is Tampa Central because it faces the Gulf?
No. Tampa is Eastern time, America/New_York, with daylight saving. Central time in Florida is the western panhandle, including Pensacola.
What if I enter only the state?
The word of the state does not choose the minutes. The Kundli needs the birth city so the zone minutes can be applied before the Julian day.
