Why Rahu Is Feared

Rahu is feared because it is the north node, the eclipse point, classed as a malefic, and its mahadasha lasts 18 years. An eclipse on the Sun or the Moon is the image: status or mind swallowed. A Rahu-Moon conjunction in the birth chart is the version that feels personal, because the mind's karaka shares a sign with the node. Ketu, opposite, is feared for severance, and its period is only 7 years, so Rahu gets more of the dread simply by lasting longer.

The fear outruns the rule. In the 3rd, 6th, or 11th, Rahu is an upachaya tenant and can build. The 18 years then spend effort, competition, or gains.

Rahu rules no sign. It borrows a host and does not know when to stop wanting. That is the psychological fear: a period that amplifies whatever house it touches and does not feel finished. The antardashas prove it is not one flavor. Jupiter's slice and Saturn's slice inside the 18 years do not feel alike. People fear the container and suffer one guest.

Hessonite strengthens the thing feared. Recommending it as courage is coherent only in an upachaya. Recommending it for a 7th-house Rahu feeds the marriage complaint.

You cannot fear Rahu alone. Ketu occupies the opposite house, so a feared Rahu in the 1st is a Ketu in the 7th, a marriage scare, and a feared Rahu in the 12th is a Ketu in the 6th, often a workable opposition. Name both ends before you accept the dread.

After the 18 years, Jupiter's 16 begin. The fear has a scheduled end. What remains is the house, still occupied, no longer the mahadasha lord.
