Conviction, the 6th House, and the 12th

In Jyotish, a criminal conviction is read, if it is read at all, from the 6th house of litigation, enemies, and punishment, and confinement is read from the 12th house of loss and imprisonment. The 8th can join the story as scandal, sudden reversal, or disgrace. Saturn and Rahu, when they afflict the 6th, the 10th, or their lords, are the grahas people cite for a public collision with authority. Those are the houses an astrologer would open. They are not a biography.

A court conviction is a legal fact established outside the chart. The chart does not create it, and a page does not need to re-try it.

Naming a living or historical person's lagna, Moon, or dasha without a verified birth time is an invention. This page will not assign Lalu Prasad Yadav a rising sign, a mahadasha year, or a degree. Any explanation that begins with his Moon in a stated nakshatra, without a timed birth you can defend, is storytelling. The 6th and 12th remain the correct houses for the topic in whoever's chart is actually in front of you.

The 10th house is the public role. A fall from office is a 10th-house event only after the birth time fixes which planet rules the 10th. Until then, the 10th lord has no name.

A verified time and place, the sidereal lagna, the 6th lord's dignity, the 12th lord's house, and the mahadasha running at the date of the judgment. If the 6th lord's period was not active and no transit supports the houses, a jyotishi should say the chart does not time that event cleanly. Forcing a conviction into a convenient Saturn story is the error these explainers often commit.

Use the method on a chart you can calculate. Leave the named case as a reminder of which houses the question belongs to, and of the birth time you refuse to fake.
