Rahu-Sun and Rahu-Moon

A third answer to the worst Rahu phase, different from Saturn and Mars, is the pair of luminous antardashas: Rahu-Sun and Rahu-Moon. They fall late in the 18 years, after Venus and before Mars in the Sun's case, and with the Moon following the Sun. Rahu is the eclipse node. When the Sun's antardasha runs inside Rahu, status, the father, and authority pass through the node. When the Moon's antardasha runs, the mind and the mood do. These slices are shorter than Rahu-Saturn because the Sun has only 6 years in the formula and the Moon 10, but they are personal.

If the Sun or Moon is already conjunct Rahu in the birth chart, the matching antardasha repeats a natal eclipse and is heavier than the sequence alone.

Rahu-Sun often shows as a dispute about rank, a father's theme, or a public exposure, because the Sun rules those things and Rahu makes them unusual. It is not automatically a fall. An exalted Sun in Aries can pass through Rahu-Sun as a sharp rise with political heat. A debilitated Sun in Libra has less to stand on.

Rahu-Moon is the phase when sleep, appetite, and confidence wobble, because the Moon is the mind. This page will not turn that wobble into a diagnosis. A full Moon, born at Purnima, has more brightness to spend in this slice than a Moon already with a node.

People blame the entire 18 years for a bad Rahu-Moon season that was always going to end when Mars's antardasha, or the end of the Moon's slice, arrived. Mark the dates from the balance rather than from the mood. After Mars, Jupiter's 16 years begin, and the eclipse container closes.

If neither luminary is weak and neither is conjunct Rahu, these phases may be merely intense, and the worst label belongs on a fallen Saturn or a 7th-house problem instead. The lights are the suspects when the complaint is identity and peace, not when the complaint is only money.
