The Sharp Nakshatras People Call Worst

The rumor of a worst nakshatra comes from the sharp set. Those four stars are a muhurta class, not a ranking of human worth.

Four sharp stars

Ardra, Ashlesha, Jyeshtha, and Mula are the tikshna nakshatras, the sharp group. Ardra belongs to Rahu and sits in Gemini. Ashlesha belongs to Mercury and sits in Cancer. Jyeshtha belongs to Mercury and sits in Scorpio. Mula belongs to Ketu and sits in Sagittarius. Muhurta prefers not to use them for gentle acts such as a wedding entry, and it allows them for fierce or cutting rites. That technical avoidance is why they are called worst. A birth Moon in one of them inherits the label and does not inherit a ruined lagna.

Each opens a different dasha: Rahu, Mercury, Mercury, and Ketu. The lives do not share a period, so they cannot share a single worst fate.

The house still moves

Mula in Sagittarius is the 9th for an Aries lagna and the 8th for a Taurus lagna. The same worst star is fortune for one rising sign and the longevity house for another. Ashlesha is the 1st only for Cancer lagna. Calling the star bad without naming the house it occupies is the whole mistake.

The Moon is debilitated in Scorpio, so Jyeshtha has a sign problem the others do not: it lies in the Moon's fall. That is a reason Jyeshtha can feel heavier, and it is still a dignity fact, not a moral rank.

Sharp is not fallen

None of the four is defined as a debilitated Moon except by Jyeshtha's Scorpio. A bright Moon in Ardra is a sharp, quick mind under Rahu's opening balance. The balance may be short if the Moon is late in the star. Parents who hear Mula and expect 7 full years of Ketu may be looking at a remainder of months.

Use the class when you choose a muhurta. Use the lagna when you judge a person. The worst nakshatra, as a human title, is not in the list.

Frequently asked questions

Which nakshatras are tikshna?

Ardra, Ashlesha, Jyeshtha, and Mula. They are avoided for gentle muhurtas and used for fierce ones.

Do they share one dasha?

No. Ardra opens Rahu, Ashlesha and Jyeshtha open Mercury, and Mula opens Ketu.

Is Jyeshtha worse because of Scorpio?

The Moon is debilitated in Scorpio, so Jyeshtha carries that sign weakness. The other three sharp stars do not.
