Intelligence and the Nakshatras

The nakshatras ruled by Mercury are Ashlesha, Jyeshtha, and Revati. A Moon in one of them opens life in Mercury mahadasha, 17 years at full length, which is the period most able to spend speech, study, and analysis. That is as close as the nakshatra list comes to an intelligence cluster. Hasta, ruled by the Moon, is the star of the hand and of skill, a different gift. Rohini is pleasing and lunar, not a scholarship award.

Ashlesha is in Cancer, Jyeshtha in Scorpio, Revati in Pisces. The same Mercury lord sits in three different signs, so the mind's style changes. Revati's Mercury is in Jupiter's sign. Ashlesha's is in the Moon's sign.

Intelligence as a house is the 5th, with Jupiter as karaka and Mercury as the skill planet. A Mercury-nakshatra Moon with a 5th lord in the 8th or 12th is a quick mind in a difficult house. A Moon in a Saturn nakshatra with an exalted 5th lord can out-study the person whose only credential is Revati. The most intelligent nakshatra is a question the chart refuses. The most relevant factors are the 5th lord's dignity, Mercury's sign, and whether Mercury is combust.

Budhaditya, Sun with Mercury, adds authority to intellect when Mercury is not swallowed.

The 17 years of Mercury, or the dasha of the 5th lord, are when study shows. A childhood under Saturn because the Moon is in Pushya can be a slow student who is not a less intelligent nakshatra. Pushya's lord is Saturn. Its deity is Brihaspati. The paradox is useful: a nourishing star can open under a slow planet.

Use Ashlesha, Jyeshtha, and Revati as Mercury's group. Use the 5th house as the judgment. Skip the crown.
