When the Chart Times a Marriage

You get married, in chart terms, in the mahadasha or antardasha of the 7th lord, of Venus, or of a planet sitting in the 7th house, provided the Navamsa supports the same planets. For a woman, Jupiter as husband significator joins that list when Jupiter connects to the 7th. There is no mahadasha named marriage. Venus lasts 20 years, so inside a Venus period the antardasha is the narrower gate. The Sun lasts only 6, and if the Sun is the 7th lord, as for Aquarius, the gate is shorter.

A transit of Jupiter over the 7th can trigger the event inside that gate. It does not open a gate the dasha has locked.

The 7th lord depends on the lagna, and the lagna depends on the birth time, the city, and the zone offset, including daylight saving. Without those, any year is a guess. Even with them, the antardasha is a range of months, not a muhurta. The wedding muhurta is chosen later, from tithi and nakshatra, inside a year the dasha has made plausible.

Gun milan does not time your marriage. A score of 36 says the Moon nakshatras agree with someone. It does not start your 7th lord's period.

Saturn in the 7th, or Saturn as 7th lord, delays. Ketu in the 7th detaches. A 7th lord in the 8th or 12th complicates. None of these forbids the dasha. They change the age at which the willing period arrives and the style of the bond when it does. An early marriage is an early arrival of Venus or the 7th lord, which happens if those periods fall young, including a long balance at birth.

Ask for the running mahadasha and the 7th lord's next antardasha. That is the when. The reception date is a muhurta on top of it.
