When Jupiter in the 7th Strains Marriage

Jupiter in the 7th house becomes a marriage problem when the 7th is Capricorn, because Jupiter is debilitated there. The lagna is then Cancer. For Cancer, Jupiter rules the 6th and the 9th, so the planet in the marriage house is a fallen 6th lord as well as the fortune lord. Conflict, debt, and opponents share a seat with the spouse, and the karaka of wisdom is out of dignity. That is a real strain. It is not the description of Jupiter in Sagittarius in the 7th, which is Jupiter in its own sign.

For Gemini lagna, Jupiter in the 7th is in Sagittarius as 7th lord in the 7th. Kendradhipati applies, and the house is strong. Calling that bad flattens a good 7th.

Jupiter conjunct Rahu in the 7th is Guru Chandal in the marriage house: counsel and appetite on the spouse. Jupiter conjunct Ketu is severance on the spouse, with Rahu in the lagna. Saturn aspecting the 7th adds delay. None of these is Jupiter alone. A clean Jupiter in a friendly sign in the 7th aspects the lagna and often describes a principled partner.

In a woman's chart Jupiter also signifies the husband, so the Cancer debilitation is both a weak significator and a 6th lord. In a man's chart the wife is Venus. A fallen Jupiter in his 7th still hurts the house, and Venus can tell a separate story.
