Guru Chandal dosha forms when Jupiter and Rahu occupy the same rashi. Jupiter is the karaka of wisdom, teachers, children, and dharma. Rahu inflates, eclipses, and reaches by an unusual path. The conjunction can distort judgment about gurus, belief, and counsel, or it can produce an unconventional teacher who is still a real teacher. Ketu stands in the opposite sign. A Jupiter-Ketu conjunction is a different pairing and should not be given this name by habit.

Hessonite would strengthen Rahu, which is a strange goal if the complaint is that Rahu is already on Jupiter. Yellow sapphire would strengthen Jupiter, which can help a weak Jupiter and can also amplify a Jupiter you have not judged carefully.
