Three Debilitated Planets in a Horoscope

Three debilitated planets are three grahas standing in their neecha signs, and the signs are not interchangeable. The Sun falls in Libra, the Moon in Scorpio, Mars in Cancer, Mercury in Pisces, Jupiter in Capricorn, Venus in Virgo, and Saturn in Aries. A chart with the Sun, Mercury, and Venus debilitated is a chart with the Sun in Tula, Mercury in Meena, and Venus in Kanya. That is a different chart from one where Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn are the three, because those three fall in Karka, Makara, and Mesha. The count 'three' does not create a named yoga of ruin. Each fallen graha weakens the houses it rules and the natural things it signifies: the Sun for authority, Mercury for speech and trade, Venus for marriage and comfort, and so on.

Neecha bhanga, cancellation of debilitation, is judged one planet at a time. A standard condition is that the lord of the sign where the graha is fallen sits in a kendra from the lagna or from the Moon. Another is that the graha which would be exalted in that sign is in a kendra. If the Sun is debilitated in Libra, the condition looks at Venus, lord of Libra, and at Saturn, the graha exalted in Libra. Mercury fallen in Pisces does not borrow the Sun's cancellation. People hear 'three debilitated planets' and expect a single curse. The reading is a stack of three files. One may be cancelled, one may be merely weak, and one may be running in dasha and therefore loud while the other two are silent.

Vimshottari does not run all three at once unless an antardasha stacks them. Venus lasts 20 years, Saturn 19, Rahu 18, Mercury 17, Jupiter 16, and the shorter lords less. A debilitated Venus in its mahadasha can make marriage and comfort the hard chapter. A debilitated Mars that is not in period can sit in the chart for decades as a background note. Houses matter as much as the fall. Mars debilitated in the 10th touches the profession directly. Mars debilitated in the 3rd touches courage and siblings, and the 3rd is an upachaya, where a malefic can improve with effort. Calling the whole horoscope unlucky because the count reached three skips both the cancellation and the house.
