When Ketu Turns Difficult for Marriage

Ketu becomes inauspicious for marriage chiefly in the 7th house, because the south node of severance then occupies the spouse's house. The nodes always stand in opposite rashis, so this placement puts Rahu in the lagna. The person can seem unusual or hard to pin down, and the bond can feel karmic, thin on ordinary companionship, or interrupted.

Ketu in the 12th, by contrast, is often left as a moksha placement and is not the same complaint. The house is the cause, not the mere presence of Ketu somewhere in the chart.

Ketu conjunct the 7th lord exports that severance onto the planet that has to deliver marriage. Ketu in the 7th of the Navamsa repeats the theme in the varga used for the spouse, which is a stronger objection than a single glance at the birth chart. A 7th lord that is exalted, in its own sign, or joined to Jupiter can still marry the person. Jupiter aspects the 5th, 7th, and 9th from itself, so Jupiter aspects Ketu only from those distances.

Ketu mahadasha lasts 7 years. Those years press the marriage story when Ketu occupies the 7th. In a chart where Ketu sits in the 3rd, 6th, or 11th, the same 7 years are not a marriage sentence.

Ketu's nakshatras are Ashwini, Magha, and Mula. A Moon in one of them opens life in Ketu's balance, which is a dasha fact about childhood or the opening years, not a 7th-house affliction. Do not treat the birth star as Ketu-in-the-7th.

Sign dignity still matters. Ketu is not given one agreed exaltation in the classical lists people actually agree on, so skip the slogan and read the house, the 7th lord, and the D9. A puja does not move Ketu into another sign.
