The Transits That Matter Are Saturn's and Jupiter's

Saturn spends about two and a half years in a sign. Sade Sati is three such signs and about seven and a half years. The middle slice, Saturn on the Moon's sign, is treated as the heaviest. Saturn transiting the natal 10th, counted from the lagna, slows and hardens the career even when it is not Sade Sati. Saturn over the natal 7th delays marriage weather. These are gochar. They do not move the natal Saturn. If Saturn mahadasha, 19 years, is also running, the transit is a storm inside the chapter. If Venus mahadasha is running, the transit is weather inside Venus's chapter.

Jupiter's transit over the 7th sign, or over the 7th lord, is a classic marriage trigger when the 7th lord or Venus is already the antardasha. Over the 10th, it opens career weather inside a 10th-lord period. Jupiter's own mahadasha is 16 years. A Jupiter transit during an unrelated 3rd-lord bhukti is a milder season. Double transit, Saturn and Jupiter both aspecting the relevant house, is a later practitioner's timing aid. It is used inside the dasha, not instead of the Moon's nakshatra clock.

A fast Venus transit of a month, or Mercury's quicker pass, can color a week and does not change a life the way Saturn's two and a half years can. Eclipses are brief and matter when they fall on a natal Sun, Moon, or the Moon's sign. They do not rebuild the lagna.
