Vayu Tattva Rashis: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
Vayu tattva rashis are the three air signs: Gemini, ruled by Mercury, Libra, ruled by Venus, and Aquarius, ruled by Saturn. They sit between the water signs and are judged by those lords, not by a shared personality prize.
The element groups
Fire is Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. Earth is Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn. Air is Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius. Water is Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces. Vayu is the air group. A planet in one of those three signs is in an air sign, and it still belongs to that sign's lord. Mercury in Gemini is air and also in its own sign. Saturn in Aquarius is air and in its own sign. The Sun in Libra is air and debilitated. The element does not cancel debilitation. Saturn exalted in Libra is the famous case of a strong Saturn sitting in an air sign that Venus owns.
Movable, fixed, and dual cut across air
Libra is movable air. Aquarius is fixed air. Gemini is dual air. A vayu rashi is not one quality. Muhurta prefers fixed lagnas for a wedding or a house entry, so Aquarius rising is acceptable on that rule and Libra rising is the movable one muhurta treats as unstable for staying. People who call all air signs restless have described Libra and Gemini better than Aquarius. Read the quality and the lord. A Gemini lagna's life is Mercury's, including the 4th house, because Mercury also owns Virgo, the 4th from Gemini.
Not a body type
Ayurveda uses vayu as a dosha of the body. That is a different science from the rashi element, and this page will not diagnose either. In the kundli, air signs tell you the mode of the graha that occupies them: speech and trade if it is Mercury's Gemini, partnership if it is Venus's Libra, structure and networks if it is Saturn's Aquarius. The house from the lagna tells you the department. A Venus in Libra in the 10th is air, own-sign, and career. The same Venus in Libra in the 12th is air, own-sign, and cost or distance.
Frequently asked questions
Which rashis are vayu?
Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius. Their lords are Mercury, Venus, and Saturn. Fire, earth, and water are the other three groups.
Are all air signs restless?
Libra is movable and Gemini is dual. Aquarius is fixed. The quality splits the element. Fixed Aquarius is the one muhurta can use when it wants a staying lagna.
Does an air sign cancel a debilitation?
No. The Sun is debilitated in Libra, an air sign. Saturn is exalted in that same air sign. Dignity and element are separate facts.
