Teen Mukhi Rudraksha and Mars

A mukhi is a face cut by nature on the seed, not a house in the kundli. Three faces are widely associated with Agni. Because Mars is the fire graha, wearers use the bead when Mars is the planet they want to steady: courage, conflict, land, or a Mangal condition. That is a remedial custom. It does not make the bead a 3rd-house object. The 3rd house is siblings and effort, and its lord depends on the lagna. Aries lagna gives the 3rd to Mercury, because the 3rd sign is Gemini. Cancer lagna also gives the 3rd to Mercury, because the 3rd sign is Virgo. The face count and the house number meet only as the word three.

Mars mahadasha lasts 7 years. A Mars antardasha inside another mahadasha is shorter, from the product of the two year counts divided by 120. If Mars is not the mahadasha lord and not the antardasha lord, a three-faced bead is a symbol without a live period behind it. If Mars is yogakaraka or simply the 7th lord, as it is for Taurus and Libra lagnas, the reason to care about Mars is marriage and the chart, not the bead. Mangal dosha remains Mars in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th, whether or not a seed is worn.

It will not create a dhan yoga. Wealth combinations are links between the 2nd and 11th lords. It will not cancel a conjunction of Saturn and Rahu, and it will not move the Moon's nakshatra. Five-faced rudraksha is the ordinary daily bead, linked with Kalagni Rudra, and it is the one most people mean when they say rudraksha without a number. Three faces are a specific choice for a fire graha. Choose them only after the chart says Mars is the graha of this decade.
