Gruha Pravesha, Mundan, and Maduve Muhurta

Entering a house to live in it is a 4th-house act. The 4th lord of the owner's chart, and the dasha running, tell you whether the move belongs to this period. For the hour itself, muhurta practice prefers a fixed lagna so the household is meant to stay. Bhadra is avoided. A Kannada panchang names the same tithis in its own words: padyami, bidige, tadige, chauti, and on through hunnime for the full Moon. The names change. The 4th house does not.

The first haircut is the child's samskara, not the parent's wedding muhurta. The child's janma nakshatra, the Moon's star at birth, is the point the mundan day has to respect. Many muhurta customs avoid cutting the hair when the day's Moon returns to that same nakshatra. The lagna of the hour is still chosen from the panchang. Using the parents' marriage nakshatras for a mundan mixes two samskaras.

A wedding muhurta is the 7th house of the two charts, then a day whose nakshatra is fit for marriage. The set many books prefer includes Rohini, Mrigashira, Magha, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha, Mula, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada, and Revati. Venus and Jupiter should not be combust. A fixed lagna for the ceremony is preferred, and a movable lagna is treated as a reason to look for another hour. One printed list cannot serve the house entry, the haircut, and the wedding.
