Satyanarayan Puja and Jupiter

Satyanarayan puja is a vow to Vishnu as Satyanarayan, often kept on a full moon, and it is mentioned for Jupiter when the Vimshottari dasha already running has named that planet. The rite includes a katha, traditionally told in chapters, and a simple prasad. Families keep it after a wish has been fulfilled, or while a wish is being carried, or on an ordinary Purnima with no bargain attached. Those are three different moods. Only the middle one is even a candidate for a 'remedy,' and only if the chart has named Jupiter. Thursday is Jupiter's weekday and can be used when a full moon is far away. The lunar day is still the classical preference. A Lahiri calendar tells you which night is actually Purnima.

Jupiter rules Sagittarius and Pisces. He is exalted in Cancer and fallen in Capricorn. If he rules your 5th, the vow sits beside children and intelligence. If he rules your 9th, it sits beside dharma and the father. If he rules your 10th, it sits beside career, and the 10th house still has to be read, because a katha does not create a post. For a Sagittarius lagna he is the lagna lord, so a Jupiter period is a period of the self and the puja matches the clock. For a Cancer lagna he rules the 6th and the 9th together. Strengthening him is fortune mixed with disputes. Say that before you treat the puja as pure luck. Yellow sapphire is not included. The stone waits for its own naming, louder than a katha, and many people should keep the vow and skip the gem.

The katha is a devotional narrative. This page does not retell it as if a paraphrase were the scripture, and it does not add a sequence of offerings that guarantees money. Marriage remains the 7th house and the D9 Navamsa. If Jupiter is the 7th lord, which is true for a Gemini lagna, where he also rules the 10th, then the vow and the marriage question share a planet, and the Navamsa still confirms. Otherwise do not file Satyanarayan under wedding remedies. Debt remains the 6th. A full-moon puja does not close a loan. Keep the rite at the size your priest gives it, on a real Purnima, for a Jupiter you can point to, or simply because your house has always kept it. Both reasons are clean. A promised miracle is not.
