Colors Follow the Graha, Then the Rashi's Lord

A rashi has no color of its own apart from its lord. The Sun's color is red, the Moon's white, Mars's red, Mercury's green, Jupiter's yellow, Venus's white, and Saturn's dark blue or black. Rahu is read as smoky and Ketu as grey in the same remedial tradition. Makara, ruled by Saturn, wears Saturn's dark palette. Mithuna, ruled by Mercury, wears green. Using the color because of a Moon sign, without asking whether that lord is weak or is a functional malefic, is the step that goes wrong.

Lord first, cloth second

If the lagna lord is Mercury, green belongs to the self. If the lagna lord is Mars, red belongs to the self, and a green preference taken from a Mithuna Moon is the mind's color, not the ascendant's. The two can be worn for different reasons. Strengthening a weak lagna lord with his color is the classical remedial idea: a debilitated Mercury in Meena is the case where green is being asked to support buddhi, and it still will not move Mercury into Kanya. Strengthening a functional malefic just because he rules the Moon sign can amplify a difficult house. For Karka lagna, Saturn rules the 7th and 8th. Wearing Saturn's black because the Moon is in Makara imports a dusthana lord's color for a lunar reason. Check the lagna before the wardrobe.

Rahu, Ketu, and the nodes' palette

Smoky and grey are the usual remedial colors, paired with Durga for Rahu and Ganesha for Ketu as deities, not as a dress code that cancels the eighteen-year or seven-year dasha. A color does not change the house the node occupies. Friday white for Venus and Sunday red for the Sun follow the weekdays of those grahas. Thursday yellow follows Jupiter. Saturday's dark cloth follows Saturn. The weekday is the cleaner rule: wear or offer the color of the lord whose antardasha is running, if you want a conduct, and ignore a twelve-row chart that never asks which dasha you are in.

What color will not do

It will not time a marriage, which remains the 7th lord's dasha. It will not treat a disease, and no medical outcome is stated here. Jyothish SI will name the lagna lord and the Moon's lord from one Lahiri chart so you can see whose color you were about to borrow. The rashi method is simply the lord's color applied to the Moon sign. Say that plainly, then decide whether the Moon's lord is the graha you meant to strengthen, or whether the lagna lord was the one the year actually needs.

Frequently asked questions

Which color belongs to Mercury's signs?

Green. Mithuna and Kanya are Mercury's rashis, so the rashi method paints them green. The lagna lord may be a different graha with a different color.

Should everyone with a Makara Moon wear black?

Black or dark blue is Saturn's color, and Saturn rules Makara. Wear it for Saturn only if Saturn is the graha you intend to support for that lagna, not merely because the Moon is there.

Does a color change a dasha?

No. Venus still runs twenty years and Saturn nineteen. A color is a conduct during the period of its graha, not a change of lord.
