A Rahu Kawach Is a Stotra, Not a New Ephemeris

Kawach means armor. In practice it is a set of verses a family or a priest recites, sometimes with a thread or a written copy kept on the body. Different traditions carry different texts. This page does not reproduce a kawach, because a half-copied hymn is worse than none, and the chart question does not depend on the verses. The astronomical Rahu is the same point either way. If the native is not in Rahu mahadasha or Rahu antardasha, the hymn is a general devotion. If they are inside the eighteen years, the hymn is a rhythm beside a period that will end on schedule. Durga, as Rahu's usual remedial deity, is the worship most temples already know, including Navratri's nine tithis.

Rahu in the 7th will still describe an unconventional marriage while the kawach is recited. Rahu in the 10th will still describe a volatile public life. The antardasha lord changes the flavor inside the eighteen years: Rahu-Moon is 18 times 10 divided by 120, one and a half years, and it emphasizes the mind. A hymn does not swap that Moon sub-period for a Jupiter sub-period. People feel steadier when they keep a practice, and the period still delivers the house. The useful companion to a kawach is to know the house. Jyothish SI shows it from the birth time. A printed kawach sold without that house is a product, not a prediction.

Bother with devotion if it steadies you during a Rahu antardasha you have actually calculated. Bother with the chart if you do not yet know the house. Do not bother with a kawach as a cure for a 6th-house illness or a legal case. Those are the 6th lord's dasha and, if health is involved, a clinician. No medical outcome is stated here. The north node remains opposite the south node. The stotra, if you keep one from a trusted priest, is a discipline. The ephemeris is the other discipline, and they do not replace each other.
