Rakshasa Gana: Nine Stars, Not a Verdict on Character

Krittika is the Sun's nakshatra. Ashlesha is Mercury's. Magha and Mula are Ketu's. Chitra is Mars's. Vishakha is Jupiter's. Jyeshtha is Mercury's. Dhanishta is Mars's. Shatabhisha is Rahu's. A single personality paragraph cannot cover a solar will, a Mercurial knot, a Ketu severance, and a Rahu hunger. What the tradition did was group them for marriage matching, opposite the Deva list and beside the Manushya list. Families who hear Rakshasa and think of a demon have imported a myth into a table. The table only says: this Moon star sits in column three of gana.

Same gana, including Rakshasa with Rakshasa, takes the full friendly gana score in the standard sheet. The fear in matchmaking is specifically Deva with Rakshasa, not Rakshasa with itself.
