The Tryambaka Verse Itself
Om Tryambakam Yajamahe is one verse, not three spells. It names the three-eyed one, a fragrance that nourishes, and a release like a cucumber from its stem.

The verse
The Mahamrityunjaya mantra is the Tryambaka verse of the Rigveda, chanted when the 8th house of longevity and sudden change is the chart question. The usual form is: Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam, Urvarukamiva Bandhanan Mrityor Mukshiya Mamritat. Tryambaka is the three-eyed Shiva. Sugandhim pushtivardhanam praises him as fragrant and as the one who increases nourishment. The cucumber image is a release from the stem without a tearing, and the last words ask to be freed from death toward the deathless. That is a prayer. It is not a calculated span of years, and it is not a medical protocol. A priest's recension of the sounds should be preferred to any spelling on a screen.
How the words are misread
The death-word in the verse makes frightened people treat the mantra as a prediction of death or as a bargain that adds a fixed term of life. The 8th house is where longevity is read, together with the maraka lords of the 2nd and 7th, and even that reading does not publish a date. The verse sits beside such a chapter as worship. It does not insert digits into it. Sugandhim is sometimes sold as a promise of health products. It is a praise of Shiva, not a pharmacy. Pushti, nourishment, is a Vedic word in the line, and a physician still answers a body that is failing. Keep the poetry in the register it has. The Vimshottari dasha of the 8th lord is the astrological reason to be saying it often. Outside that reason it can remain a Shiva prayer you love.
One verse, several page-titles
The same verse is spelled Mahamrityunjaya, Maha Mrityunjaya, and the shortened title on this slug. They are not three mantras and they do not belong to three planets. Practice details, such as a mala of 108 and a Monday rhythm, are a method. The link to an 8th-house crisis is a chart judgment. This page is the wording. Do not attach a gemstone to the verse by habit. Blue sapphire follows Saturn only after the chart names Saturn, and Saturn is not the speaker of the verse. Shiva is. If the live chart problem is marriage, leave this verse in its 8th-house lane and open the 7th and the D9. A single sacred sentence cannot be the remedy for every house.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Om at the start part of the Rigvedic line?
The Tryambaka verse is Rigvedic. The prefixed Om is the usual way the mantra is taken up for japa. Recite the form you were taught.
Does urvaruka refer to a ritual cucumber offering?
In the verse it is a simile for release from a bond. Offering a fruit is a separate puja custom and is not required by the grammar of the line.
Can the verse be chanted for someone else?
People do recite it for a sick relative as prayer. The relative's 8th house and dasha are unchanged by your count, and a doctor still directs care.
