One stricter description of Kuldeepak yoga puts Mercury and Venus in the lagna, Jupiter in a kendra, and Mars in the 10th. A popular shortcut calls any Mars in the 10th by this name. Those are not the same rule. The stricter one staffs the kendras: the lagna held by two benefics, another kendra held by Jupiter, the 10th held by Mars. The person is then said to bring light to the family, which is a 4th-house hope sitting on a public 10th.
