Kundalini Is a Yogic Term; a Kundli Is a Birth Chart

Kundalini is a yogic term for a coiled power at the base of the spine. A kundli is a birth chart. The words share a root and not a method. Nothing in the twelve houses is a switch for that power, and this page will not give a breathing practice, a posture, or a technique that claims to wake it. Those practices belong to a teacher and a tradition, and done badly they are not astrology's business. The chart's 1st house is the body the yogic claim is about. The lagna lord describes that body. The 8th house is the occult and transformation, which is why the two subjects get mixed in popular writing. Mixing them sells a mystery. It does not cast a chart.

Jyotish can say whether the lagna lord is strong, whether Mars, the karaka of heat in the body, is exalted in Capricorn or fallen in Cancer, and whether the 8th lord's dasha is the chapter you are in. It can say Ketu in the 1st makes the self inward. It cannot say the serpent has risen. A strong 8th lord is not an awakened person. It is a person whose chapter includes 8th-house topics: research, shared money, rupture, hidden subjects. A weak Moon is not a blocked channel. It is a weak Moon, debilitated if it is in Scorpio. Keep medical and energetic claims out. The body you can talk about is the lagna. The mind you can talk about is the Moon.

If there is a secret worth keeping from this confusion, it is that the chart is calculated and the serpent is not. Lahiri ayanamsa and a birth time give a lagna. No ayanamsa gives kundalini. People who want power from a chart are usually asking the 10th house for status or the 8th for hidden control. Read those houses plainly. Rahu in the 8th will amplify the hunger for hidden power. That is a warning about Rahu, not an initiation. Live the lagna lord's dasha as a human life. Leave the coiled-power practices to a lineage that teaches them in person, if you seek that at all. The kundli's dignity is that it can be drawn. It does not need a serpent to be interesting.
