When the Score Is Low, See Whether Nadi or Bhakoot Failed
Do not throw out the charts or worship the total. Itemize the failed koota, then read the marriage lords the score ignored.

Find the heavy line
When the score is low, look at which koota failed. Nadi is 8 points and bhakoot is 7, so those two can sink a total without the 7th houses being hostile. A zero nadi with everything else full is a same-nadi problem, Aadi with Aadi, Madhya with Madhya, or Antya with Antya. A zero bhakoot is a sign-distance problem, classically the 2/12, 5/9, or 6/8 pairs. Yoni at 4 cannot be the whole disaster unless the rest was already weak. Tara's hard steps are Vipat, Pratyari, and Naidhana. Knowing the line changes the conversation. A couple arguing about a number they cannot itemize is arguing about a sum.
Exceptions are narrow
Some traditions soften bhakoot when the lords of the two Moon signs are mutual friends. That is an exception to discuss, not a deletion. It does not restore nadi points. Same Moon sign is another situation later astrologers argue about, and it should be named as an argument, not as a universal pardon. No exception replaces the 7th lord. If both 7th lords are strong and D9 agrees, you may tell the family that the lunar score is low and the marriage houses are not. If the 7th lords are also broken, the low score is not the main problem. Do not pay for a rite that claims to add points. Points are a counting of nakshatras. They do not increase.
What to do, in order
Itemize. Check Manglik separately. Read both 7th lords and both Venuses, and Jupiter if you are reading a woman's husband karaka. Check the dashas. If the times are soft, say the mismatch of Moons is solid and the lagnas are not. Then decide as people, with the chart as information rather than as a veto you do not understand. A love marriage with a low score still has a 5th house to read. A low score is a reason for a fuller reading. It is not, by itself, a reason for a curse narrative. The Moons clashed on a named line. The lives may still have a workable 7th.
Frequently asked questions
Can a low score be ignored?
It can be understood. Ignoring it skips a real lunar friction. Treating it as the only fact skips the 7th lords. Do the second reading rather than choosing blindness.
Which failure matters most?
Nadi and bhakoot, by weight. A failed yoni is 4 points. A failed nadi is 8. Look at the heavy line first.
Does a remedy raise the gunas?
No. The score is fixed by the two birth Moons. A rite does not move a nakshatra. The 7th-house reading is the additional fact, not a repaired total.
