Kaal Bhairav Ashtakam
Bhairava is time and the threshold. The ashtakam praises him in eight stanzas. Reciting it does not give you power over someone else's clock.

Eight verses to the lord of time
The Kaal Bhairav Ashtakam is an eight-verse hymn to Kalabhairava, the fierce form of Shiva who is lord of kala, time, and the guardian figure of Kashi. The significance is praise of time's deity and a devotee's request for protection at a threshold. That would be a different hymn from the Gayatri, which is solar and Vedic, or from Kunjika, which condenses the Devi text. Bhairava's images hold a trident and a drum, with a dog as vehicle in the usual icons, and they are meant to be severe. Severity is not permission to use the hymn against a neighbour. The benefits popularly listed, an end of fear, a clean path through a graveyard hour, steadiness, belong to the mood of the poem. They are not contractual. This page will not reproduce the eight verses from memory and risk a wrong line. Read them in a proper edition. The meaning does not depend on a mangled quotation.
Time in the hymn and time in the chart
Kala in Jyotish is also Saturn, the 8th house, and the dasha clock. None of those is Kalabhairava by identity. Reciting the ashtakam on a Saturday does not make it a Shani mantra. Saturn's beej names Shanaischara. Bhairava's hymn names Bhairava. A person running a Saturn mahadasha of 19 years may feel the theme of time more keenly and may like this stotra. The stotra does not shorten the mahadasha. It does not move Saturn from the 7th house, where it delays marriage, and it does not protect a wedding muhurta by itself. Kashi's guardian is a place deity as well as a cosmic one. If you are not in a Shaiva practice, the hymn is still a published stotra you may read with respect. It is not a requirement of the 9th house. The 9th shows teachers and dharma. A fierce text is one possible teacher. A quiet one is another.
Protection without a target
Use the ashtakam as protection in the sense of courage in front of time, death, and fear. Do not use it as a named assault. The verses are not given here, so they cannot be turned into a script, and they should not be. A Saturday or a daily reading is enough custom to mention. The hour is not a single correct muhurta for all cities. If fear is the real problem, the Moon and the 8th house describe different kinds of fear, and a hymn will not diagnose which one you have. Read the chart separately if you need that. Recite, or do not, as devotion. The lord of time is not enlisted as an employee. Your Vimshottari clock keeps moving either way, which is the most Bhairava-like fact the kundli actually offers.
Frequently asked questions
How many verses are in the ashtakam?
Eight, which is what ashtakam means. They address Kalabhairava, the fierce form of Shiva associated with time and with Kashi.
Is this a Saturn mantra?
No. Saturn has his own beej. Bhairava is a form of Shiva. A Saturday recitation is a custom, not an identity of the two.
Are the verses a curse?
No. They are praise and a request for protection. They are not to be aimed at another person, and they are not reproduced here.
