Lyric skill in a kundli is the 2nd house of speech, the 3rd house of writing, and Venus as the karaka of music and pleasing language, with Mercury as the karaka of words themselves. A person can be a skilled lyricist with a strong Mercury in the 3rd and an ordinary 10th, or with Venus ruling the 5th of authorship and sitting in the 2nd. Those are different charts that can produce similar work. Picking one and attaching it to Javed Akhtar because the songs are good is backward. The songs show the craft. They do not show whether Venus is exalted in Pisces or fallen in Virgo in his chart.

Even a perfect Mercury-Venus link speaks mainly in those planets' periods. Mercury mahadasha lasts 17 years. Venus lasts 20. If neither was running during the decades of the best-known songs, some other lord touched the 2nd or the 3rd, perhaps the 10th lord of public career. Take the birth city, apply the zone offset, fix the lagna, note Mercury, Venus, the 2nd lord, and the 3rd lord, then see whether their dashas overlap the years of the work. If the 3rd lord is in the 10th, writing becomes the public career. If the 2nd lord is in the 12th, the voice may work in private or abroad. These sentences are the method. They become a statement about a named person only after the calculation. Until then, the honest page is the method. Celebrity birthdays are a poor substitute for a recorded time, and two conflicting times would be two kundlis. Do not average them into a yoga.
