Life Path Numbers and the Moon's Nakshatra Lord

A life path number adds the digits of the birth date. Vimshottari does something else: it starts from the lord of the Moon's nakshatra and runs a 120-year sequence of mahadashas. The number never sees the lagna, so it cannot tell you the 10th house or the 7th lord. The dasha never needs the digit sum. If the two stories disagree, they are not in conflict. They are answers to different questions. Using a life path number to time a wedding ignores the 7th lord's antardasha, which is the timing Jyotish actually has.

Indian anka tradition often pairs digits with grahas: 1 Sun, 2 Moon, 3 Jupiter, 4 Rahu, 5 Mercury, 6 Venus, 7 Ketu, 8 Saturn, 9 Mars. That list is a numerology convention. It does not place the graha in a rashi. A life path of 8 points at Saturn in that convention, and your chart's Saturn may be exalted in Libra or debilitated in Aries. Both can be true because they are not the same measurement. Do not wear a sapphire because a date sums to 8. Wear nothing until Saturn's houses for your lagna are known.

The closest Jyotish has to a life path is the mahadasha lord now in force, plus the lagna lord. The lagna lord is the through-line. The mahadasha lord is the chapter. A Mercury mahadasha of 17 years is a chapter of speech, trade, and calculation if Mercury is strong, or a chapter of scattered nerves if Mercury is debilitated in Pisces. A number cannot show that debilitation. Cast the chart with the birth city and the zone offset, note the Moon's nakshatra, and read the balance of the first dasha. That is the path the kundli can defend.
