A Wedding Date's Digits and a Real Muhurta
Numerology predicts a marriage from a wedding date by summing the civil day's digits and reading the total. Jyotish does not. A wedding muhurta uses the five panchang limbs and the lagna rising at the ceremony. The digit of the printed date never enters Ashtakoot, never becomes the 7th lord, and never times Vimshottari.

What the sum actually is
Take the day, month, and year of the ceremony, add the digits, reduce, and keep 11, 22, or 33 if your numerology book keeps master numbers. You now have a digit. Tables attach harmony or strain to that digit. The operation did not ask where the Moon was, so it did not compute nadi, bhakoot, or a nakshatra. Two couples married on dates that reduce to the same digit can have opposite 7th lords. The digit cannot see that. If the digit comforts you as a symbol, it can remain a symbol. It is not a horoscope of the marriage.
What the muhurta sees
Tithi, vara, nakshatra, yoga, and karana at the place of the wedding, plus a lagna that supports the 7th and is not the 8th sign from either person's natal lagna in the common extra rule. The vara should fit a marriage graha, often Venus's Friday or Jupiter's Thursday, as one limb among five, not as a superstition that overrides a rikta tithi. The natal charts still govern. A beautiful muhurta on top of two 7th lords in the 8th is a well-timed difficult marriage. A clumsy digit on top of two strong 7th lords is a digit. Do not let the number scold a couple whose charts are sound, or bless a couple whose 7th lords are not.
Future marriage life is the dasha
After the wedding, life follows each person's Vimshottari, not the ceremony's digit. The 7th lord's antardasha will test the bond. Venus's 20 years will color affection if Venus is involved. The wedding date does not start a new mahadasha. The Moon's nakshatra at birth already did that. Read those periods if you want a forecast. Leave the summed date in the guest book.
Frequently asked questions
Can a date number repair a bad 7th lord?
No. The 7th lord stays in its sign. A digit has no aspect and no dasha. The muhurta can choose an hour. It cannot edit the birth.
Is Friday the whole muhurta?
Friday is Venus's vara, one limb. Tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana, and the event lagna remain. A Friday rikta tithi is not automatically auspicious.
Does the wedding restart Vimshottari?
No. The dasha continues from the birth Moon's nakshatra. The ceremony does not reset the 120-year cycle.
