When a Graha Is Tied to Rahu, Ketu, or Both
A graha is influenced by Rahu or Ketu, in the strict sense used here, in two ways. They share a sign, which is conjunction. Or the graha rules the sign the node sits in, which means the graha disposits the node and has to carry it. Aspects from the nodes are taught differently by different schools, so they are not the test on this page.
Conjunction is the obvious tie
Mars with Rahu in one sign is Angarak. Jupiter with Rahu is Guru Chandal. The Sun or Moon with either node is a Grahan yoga. Saturn with Ketu is the slow graha beside the south node. In each case the influence is mutual and local: the house they share is the topic. Both nodes cannot conjunct the same graha, because Rahu and Ketu are opposite and do not share a sign. A graha can still be tied to both over a lifetime of reading if it conjuncts one and disposits the other. Mercury conjunct Ketu, while also ruling the sign Rahu occupies, is under both. That is two different jobs, not one pile.
Dispositorship is the quieter tie
Rahu in Mithuna is Mercury's passenger even when Mercury is in another sign. Every result of that Rahu is delivered through Mercury's condition. If Mercury is exalted in Kanya, the node has a strong carrier. If Mercury is debilitated in Meena, the node has a fallen carrier. Ketu in the opposite sign, Dhanu, would then be Jupiter's passenger. Mercury is not automatically under Ketu. Only the conjunction or a second dispositor link would do that. The dasha shows which tie is awake
A Mercury that disposits Rahu feels the node most in Rahu's 18 years and in Mercury's 17. A Mars conjunct Ketu feels it in Ketu's 7 years and Mars's 7. If neither period is running, the influence is natal and quiet. Do not prescribe a nodal gem because a table called every graha 'under Rahu.' Hessonite feeds Rahu. Cat's eye feeds Ketu. Feed one only after you have named the actual link and decided the houses are worth amplifying.

Schools disagree, some giving the nodes Jupiter's aspects, some Saturn's. This page uses conjunction and dispositorship, which do not depend on that dispute.
Is the dispositor influenced, or only the node?
The influence runs both ways in practice. The node borrows the dispositor's agenda. The dispositor's dasha has to speak for a passenger it did not ask to carry.
