Sun Conjunct Rahu, a Grahan Yoga

An astronomical eclipse needs proximity and the right node alignment in the sky. A natal Grahan yoga is the chart's echo of that figure: the Sun sharing a sign with Rahu. It does not mean the person was born during a visible eclipse, and this page will not invent an eclipse date. The effects traditional authors attach are a complicated relation with the father and with bosses, a strong will that meets obstruction, and a public life that can rise through unusual channels. Grahas too close to the Sun are combust. Rahu is the node that forms the eclipse yoga rather than a planet that simply burns up. Do not fold Rahu into the combustion orbs used for Mars or Mercury. Those orbs are already disputed, and none is stated here. What you can say is that the Sun's sign lord disposits Rahu. The Sun in Simha disposits itself, so Rahu in Simha must live in the Sun's own sign, a proud and exposed version. The Sun in Tula is debilitated, and Rahu there amplifies a fallen Sun. Venus, ruler of Tula, is the rescue route if Venus is strong, because Venus is the dispositor.

Call it a pitra reading when the 9th is involved. Call it a career reading when the 10th is involved. Rahu mahadasha of 18 years or the Sun's mahadasha of 6 years wakes the yoga. Sun-Rahu antardasha inside the Sun's 6 years is 6 times 18 divided by 120, which is 0.9 years, or 10 months and 24 days. That is the sharp slice. Sunday is the Sun's vara if a person wants a discipline aimed at the karaka. The discipline does not separate the conjunction.
