Common Vastu Errors and the Compass of a House

In the usual Vastu square, the northeast is Ishanya, kept for water and a quiet shrine. The southeast is Agneya, the fire corner, which is why kitchens are placed there in that system. The southwest, Nairutya, is treated as heavy earth and is the corner many guides reserve for the main bedroom. The northwest, Vayavya, is air, used for movement, guests, or storage. A kitchen in the northeast puts fire in the water corner. A toilet in the northeast puts waste in the corner the system wants kept clean. Those are Vastu mismatches. They are not yogas.

Property, the mother, and emotional ground are the 4th house, its lord, and the Moon as karaka of the mind and of fluids. Mars is a karaka of land and buildings. A strong 4th lord can belong to a person whose kitchen sits in a corner a Vastu book dislikes, and a weak 4th lord can belong to a person with a textbook floor plan. If you want the chart's view of home, read the 4th lord's sign and the dasha that activates it. Chaturthamsa, D4, is the divisional chart used for property. The compass of the flat is additional custom.

A misplaced kitchen does not produce a disease, a dasha, or a divorce. Health in the chart is the lagna, the 6th, and their lords. Marriage is the 7th and D9. Treating a Vastu slip as the cause of those houses skips the grahas. Corrections people make, such as shifting a stove toward the southeast when the building allows it, are architectural. They leave the Julian day of birth unchanged.
