Daily Puja and the Weekday of the Graha
Each graha owns a vara: Sunday the Sun, Monday the Moon, Tuesday Mars, Wednesday Mercury, Thursday Jupiter, Friday Venus, and Saturday Saturn. A puja aimed at a graha is timed to that weekday.

The vara is the part a chart can check
A household puja is worship. Jyotish does not score a hurried morning the way it scores a bhava. What the tradition does specify is the weekday of the graha you claim to be addressing. A Saturn observance on Sunday mixes Shani with the Sun's vara. A Jupiter observance on Tuesday mixes Guru with Mars. That is a calendar mix-up. It is not a yoga, and no sutra counts a skipped lamp as the cause of a dasha result. Headlines that promise bad luck from ordinary ritual slips oversell a vara rule.
House lord and karaka are different days
A weak 7th lord is not addressed by a generic Friday if Venus is not that lord. For Mesha lagna the 7th lord is Venus, so Friday belongs to the marriage lord, and Venus is also the karaka. For Simha lagna the 7th lord is Saturn, so the marriage lord's day is Saturday, while Friday remains Venus as karaka only. The person who never decides which office the puja serves will light the wrong day and call the chart stubborn. Name the house, then take that lord's vara.
Worship does not edit the ephemeris
The Vimshottari period still runs on the Moon's nakshatra. A correctly timed weekday is a discipline of attention toward one graha. It does not move that graha into another house, and it does not cancel a dusthana placement, a koota mismatch, or Mangal dosha. If the question is marriage, read the 7th lord and D9. If the question is work, read the 10th lord. The weekday follows that graha after the chart is read.
Frequently asked questions
Which weekday belongs to which graha?
Sunday Sun, Monday Moon, Tuesday Mars, Wednesday Mercury, Thursday Jupiter, Friday Venus, Saturday Saturn. Rahu is often given Saturday in remedial custom, and Ketu Tuesday, because the nodes have no weekday of their own among the seven.
Does missing a daily lamp create a dosha?
A missed observance is not a bhava. Doshas used in matching, such as Mangal or a nadi mismatch, come from the charts. They are not logged from a forgotten Tuesday.
Should the puja follow the lagna lord?
When the question is the person as a whole, yes. When the question is marriage, use the 7th lord, and remember Venus may be a different graha. Three offices can mean three weekdays.
