A horoscope does not predict a lifetime of suffering, because the 6th, 8th, and 12th houses are specific departments, not a single doom. The 6th is conflict, debt, disease, and service under another. The 8th is rupture, longevity, and what is shared in secret. The 12th is loss, expense, and release. A graha ruling two of these is a functional malefic for that lagna, and its periods are harder in those matters. That is a different claim from a life that suffers in every house at every age. The 5th can still show learning. The 10th can still show work. The 9th can still show a teacher. One damaged house does not paint the other eleven.

Vimshottari's longest mahadasha is Venus at 20 years, then Saturn at 19 and Rahu at 18. Even a hard Venus period ends. The antardashas inside it are shorter still, down to the lords of 6 and 7 years. People who suffer through one mahadasha often meet a different texture when the next lord begins, especially if the next lord rules a kendra or a trikona. The lagna lord is the graha of the body's capacity to meet events. A strong lagna lord does not delete the 8th house. It gives the person a spine while the 8th lord has its season. Predicting lifelong misery usually comes from counting malefics and stopping. The count is not the reading.

Charts are allowed to be difficult. Some 7th lords are weak, and some marriages hurt. Some 10th lords are fallen, and some careers stall. Naming that is not the same as telling a person the pain is their whole destiny. It is also not a cue to sell five gems against suffering. A gem supports one graha or it does nothing useful. Medical pain, grief, and debt have practical addresses outside the kundli: a clinician, a counselor, a payment plan. The chart can say which season is heavy, and which house the heaviness belongs to. It should not be asked to condemn the years that have not arrived. Those years have their own lord.
