Neechabhanga Raja Yoga

The Sun is debilitated in Libra, the Moon in Scorpio, Mars in Cancer, Mercury in Pisces, Jupiter in Capricorn, Venus in Virgo, and Saturn in Aries. Neechabhanga is a cancellation of that fall. One classical condition is that the lord of the sign where the graha is debilitated sits in a kendra, the 1st, 4th, 7th, or 10th, from the lagna or from the Moon. Another is that the graha which would be exalted in that sign is in a kendra from the lagna or the Moon. Without debility, there is nothing to cancel and no raja yoga of this name.

The benefit traditionally claimed is that the fallen graha can still give status, sometimes after struggle. It is not a promise of kingship, and it is not stronger by default than a graha in its own sign. The house still speaks. A cancelled Mercury in the second house of wealth and speech may restore trade. A cancelled Saturn in the sixth of conflict and debt may still describe a long fight that ends in rank. The tenth house is career, where status yogas are easiest to see. Navamsa should not show the same graha hopelessly weak, or the Rashi cancellation is thin.

The yoga is tested in the debilitated graha's mahadasha or in the dasha of the planet that cancels it. Saturn's lasts 19 years. The Moon's lasts 10. Before that period, calling someone a neechabhanga king is flattery. Lahiri signs decide debility. A tropical planet in the exaltation sign may be sidereal and not fallen at all, in which case the yoga was never there.
