Pitra Dosha and the Ninth House

The ninth house is dharma. The Sun is the natural significator of the father. Popular Jyotish calls it Pitra dosha when the ninth or the Sun is pressed by Saturn, Rahu, or Ketu, with details that vary by teacher. That is a chart condition. It is not eight moods, debts, or family stories collected from a questionnaire. The sixth house is conflict and debt. Ordinary debt is not Pitra. The eighth house is longevity. A death in the family is not, by itself, this dosha.

Lists of eight signs, restless sleep, stalled weddings, a father's illness, train people to fear the ancestors. Those events have many causes.
