Money Luck and the Dhana Houses

The second house is wealth and speech. The eleventh house is gains. When their lords join, or when Jupiter or Venus supports the pair, classical texts speak of dhana yoga. The yoga can be modest or large, and the lagna decides the scale, because the first house is the self who must carry the money. A list of five lucky signs ignores every chart in which a so-called unlucky rashi has both lords in kendra. It also ignores the ninth house of dharma. Wealth tied to the ninth often arrives through a teacher, a father, or a long journey, not through a birthday slogan.

Because the second house is also speech, money luck is partly a way of talking: the quote, the promise, the refusal. Mercury strong in the second can trade. Mars there can scorch a negotiation. Rahu there can inflate a price until the eleventh cannot cash it. These are placements, not moral types. The twelfth house is loss and foreign residence. A heavy twelfth spends what the eleventh gained, sometimes on a life abroad, sometimes on waste. Calling that bad luck without opening the twelfth is how the five-sign list gets its confidence.

Jupiter mahadasha lasts 16 years. Venus mahadasha lasts 20. Either can fund a dhana yoga that sat quietly in childhood. A second-lord antardasha is often the tighter window for a particular gain.
