Vedic astrology in Tokyo, one offset in every season
Tokyo is UTC plus 9 all year in vedic astrology, with no daylight saving to give a summer birth a different offset. The civil clock stays one hour ahead of Hong Kong and of Kuala Lumpur, which are UTC plus 8 and also skip daylight saving. That gap does not close in August. The city is geocoded as Tokyo, and UTC plus 9 is applied before the Julian day to the local time you type, not to a time you first rewrote as Indian Standard Time.

Summer is not a hidden hour
Countries that observe daylight saving really do change the minutes from UTC, and the lagna can change with them. Japan is not one of those countries. A birth at 14:10 in July uses the same offset as a birth at 14:10 in January. Do not import a European summer hour from a sibling's chart, and do not drop an hour to resemble Hong Kong because a connection passed through there.
Local time, then the zone, once
If the only surviving note is in IST, UTC plus 5 hours 30 minutes, convert it back to Tokyo local time before you select the city. Selecting Tokyo on top of the Indian figure applies UTC plus 9 to the wrong clock. Selecting an Indian city on top of a Tokyo hospital time does the mirror-image harm. One event, one city, one local hour.
The 10th house after the hour is clean
Career is the 10th house and its lord. Timing is the Vimshottari dasha already running, with no year taken from a move to Japan. The chart is sidereal, Lahiri ayanamsa, Swiss Ephemeris. Marriage stays on the 7th, its lord, and D9. A free account can generate the Kundli and chat once Tokyo and the local time agree with the record.

Frequently asked questions
Does vedic astrology observe daylight saving for Tokyo?
No. Tokyo stays on UTC plus 9 in every month. A summer birth does not get a different offset from a winter birth. Enter the local time.
Is Tokyo's clock the same as Hong Kong's?
No. Hong Kong is UTC plus 8, with no daylight saving. Tokyo is UTC plus 9, also with no daylight saving. The cities are not interchangeable.
We were born in India and work in Tokyo. Which zone is the birth?
Asia/Kolkata and the Indian city. UTC plus 9 is only for a birth that happened in Tokyo.
