Rajkot · India
Vedic astrology in Rajkot, city of the delivery room
When life moves on, the vedic astrology city stays Rajkot if the birth was there, because the new town's clock was not the one in the delivery room. Rajkot uses Asia/Kolkata, UTC plus 5 hours 30 minutes, with no daylight saving. Ahmedabad is a different Gujarat city and is west of the Mirzapur meridian, with solar noon after 12:00. That solar fact is Ahmedabad's. It is not pasted onto Rajkot.

Today's wristwatch is a trap
People fill the city they woke up in. If that city is in the Gulf, the offset may be UTC plus 4 with no daylight saving, as in Dubai or Muscat, or UTC plus 3, as in Doha. If it is in Europe, the offset changes with daylight saving. None of those clocks recorded a Rajkot birth. Start from Indian Standard Time and from Rajkot.
Do not promote the birth to Ahmedabad
A relative who knows Ahmedabad will sometimes 'correct' a Saurashtra birth toward the larger city. The geocoder will obey. Rajkot and Ahmedabad share a zone and the lack of a summer clock change. They do not share a place. Marriage, read from the 7th house, its lord, and D9, will be the marriage picture of the city you actually entered.
Keep the registered hour dull and exact
Round numbers from memory, on the hour, are how Rajkot charts drift. Use the time on the paper, including an awkward minute. The Vimshottari dasha already running depends on that instant. A free Kundli can be cast when the instant is real. Guessing a cleaner time is not a kindness.

Frequently asked questions
Does vedic astrology put Rajkot on a Gujarat time zone?
No. Rajkot uses Asia/Kolkata, with no daylight saving. Do not give it Ahmedabad's solar noon, which falls after 12:00. Geocode Rajkot.
We live in Muscat. Is Asia/Muscat the birth zone?
Only if the birth was in Muscat. Asia/Muscat is UTC plus 4 with no daylight saving. A Rajkot birth stays on Indian Standard Time.
Does career use the city we work in now?
Career is the 10th house and its lord of the birth chart. The city you work in now can matter for a transit watch. It does not replace Rajkot as the birthplace.
