Princeton · NJ, USA
Princeton vedic astrology inland, on the New Jersey clock
Princeton vedic astrology uses America/New_York, Eastern time with daylight saving, for Mercer County in inland New Jersey. The town does not inherit a campus clock that ignores the zone. A 1:35 p.m. birth in July takes the daylight offset, and the same wall time in January takes the standard offset.

A campus still follows the zone
Mercer County uses America/New_York and observes daylight saving. Princeton does not get a special academic offset. A 1:35 p.m. birth in July is Eastern daylight time. In January it is standard time. Jersey City, on the Hudson, and Edison, in Middlesex County, use the same zone and are other cities. Inland does not mean Central time. New Jersey is not split.
Lahiri on an inland afternoon
The 1:35 p.m. planets are sidereal under Lahiri, after the Eastern minutes are applied. A tropical sun sign can disagree by a sign. That gap is the ayanamsa, not the distance from the river. Swiss Ephemeris supplies the positions. The zone only decides which instant 1:35 p.m. was.
Cast the town, then ask
Enter Princeton. jyothish.si can draw the Kundli free and chat. The afternoon lagna will follow the offset the date requires. A PDF, extra divisional charts, and WhatsApp transit alerts are paid. A campus schedule is not a substitute for the hospital clock.

Frequently asked questions
Does the town keep a separate campus clock?
No. Princeton uses America/New_York with daylight saving. A July 1:35 p.m. birth is Eastern daylight time. January is standard time.
Which ayanamsa is used?
Lahiri. The chart is sidereal. The Eastern offset is a separate step and does not create a one-sign gap by itself.
Is inland New Jersey on a different zone from the Hudson?
No. Mercer County and Hudson County both use America/New_York. Princeton and Jersey City are still different cities to geocode.
