Ludhiana · India
Vedic astrology in Ludhiana, still on Indian Standard Time
After the family leaves Ludhiana, vedic astrology still belongs to that city and to Indian Standard Time, not to a country that resets its clocks in summer. Asia/Kolkata is UTC plus 5 hours 30 minutes all year. The new country may observe daylight saving, and that change can move a lagna, which tempts people to 'update' the birth. The update is a different chart. The birth clock did not jump.

Two calendars, one birth
Suppose the family now lives where summer and winter do not share an offset. A birth in that new city really does need the seasonal offset. A birth in Ludhiana does not, because India does not use daylight saving. Keep the city and the hour on the certificate. Use the new zone for transits of life there, or for a child born after the move.
Punjab is not precise enough to geocode
The state is not the city. Ludhiana on the paper means Ludhiana, not a neighboring town and not 'Punjab' typed because the form looked foreign and the city was hard to spell. A wrong municipal name still sits on Asia/Kolkata, so the offset looks right while the place is wrong. The lagna uses both.
Career timing stays ordinary
Work is read from the 10th house and its lord. When a change shows up depends on the Vimshottari dasha already running, calculated from the real birth instant, not from the year the family emigrated. Positions are sidereal, Lahiri ayanamsa, Swiss Ephemeris. Chat on a free account can trace that dasha without a fee printed here.

Frequently asked questions
Does Ludhiana use daylight saving in vedic astrology?
No. Ludhiana uses Asia/Kolkata every month. If your current country moves its clocks, that rule applies to births there, not to a Ludhiana birth.
We converted the time into our local hour. Can we enter that with Ludhiana?
No. Enter the Indian Standard Time on the record and let the chart apply Asia/Kolkata. A pre-converted hour plus the Indian city applies the wrong instant.
Is marriage read differently because the family lives abroad?
No. Marriage is the 7th house, its lord, and D9 Navamsa of the birth chart. Residence abroad does not replace that reading or the birth city.
