Louisville · KY, USA
Louisville vedic astrology, not western Kentucky
Louisville vedic astrology runs on America/New_York because Jefferson County is in the Eastern part of a split state, and daylight saving is observed. Counties in western Kentucky use Central time. The Ohio River does not invent a third zone for a 6 p.m. birth in Louisville.

A river border, one city clock
Louisville uses Eastern time. Western Kentucky uses Central time. Jefferson County is the Eastern side, America/New_York, with daylight saving. A 6 p.m. birth in July is Eastern daylight time. In January it is standard time. Averaging the state into one offset would mis-time both ends. Name Louisville and keep the Eastern minutes.
Lahiri after the evening offset
The 6 p.m. planets are placed with Lahiri once the Eastern minutes are in. A tropical horoscope can show the Sun a sign away. That gap is the ayanamsa, not the river, and Central time does not close it. Swiss Ephemeris supplies the positions. The zone only fixes the clock.
Read marriage on this instant
The 7th house, its lord, and D9 belong to the Louisville birth, not to a western county an hour off. A free Kundli at jyothish.si can show them, and chat can discuss them. A PDF and WhatsApp transit alerts are paid. The split in Kentucky is solved by the city, not by a statewide guess.

Frequently asked questions
Is Louisville on Central time?
No. Jefferson County uses America/New_York with daylight saving. Western Kentucky counties are the Central side of the state.
What does Lahiri change?
It keeps the signs sidereal. A tropical Sun can sit one sign off. The Eastern offset is a separate step and does not create that gap.
Where is marriage read?
In the 7th, its lord, and the Navamsa, on Eastern time. A western county's Central offset is a different chart.
