Vedic astrology in London on British Summer Time
Vedic astrology for a London birth is timed on Europe/London, and summer births use British Summer Time rather than a fixed winter offset. The London zone is not Indian Standard Time, so a birth while the clocks are forward keeps the summer offset. The city is located, and that zone offset, in minutes, is applied before the Julian day. Miss the summer change and the London lagna can move even when the hour on the certificate looks unchanged.

Winter offset and British Summer Time
British Summer Time changes the Europe/London offset for part of the year. After the offset is known, Swiss Ephemeris and the Lahiri ayanamsa set the sidereal chart. Eight in the morning in London in January is not the same instant as eight in the morning in July. Use the time the certificate shows, and keep the season the clocks were actually on.
Houses that rest on the London lagna
Marriage is read from the 7th house, its lord, and the D9 Navamsa. Career is read from the 10th house and its lord. Those signs depend on the lagna, so treating London as Indian Standard Time would slide them. Timing follows the Vimshottari dasha already running, and no dasha year is invented for a chart that has not been cast.

Frequently asked questions
Does vedic astrology in London use Indian Standard Time?
No. A London birth is timed on Europe/London. While British Summer Time is in force, that summer offset is the one applied to the birth minute.
Can the same clock hour give two different London lagnas?
Yes. Daylight saving changes the Europe/London offset in minutes, and that offset is applied before the Julian day, so winter and summer are different instants.
