Vedic astrology in Kota only when the birth was there
Living in Kota to study is not a birth in Kota, and vedic astrology should use the city only when the birth itself happened there. A student hostel is not a delivery room. If the birth was in Kota, the zone is Asia/Kolkata, with no daylight saving, UTC plus 5 hours 30 minutes. If the birth was elsewhere in India, that other city is still Indian Standard Time, and Kota must not overwrite it because Kota is where the coaching year happened.

The year of study is not the nativity
People arrive from many cities and start to say they are from Kota. A birth chart that follows the phrase geocodes the wrong place even though the offset often stays Indian. Type the city on the birth record. Jaipur is west of the Mirzapur meridian and is not a backup name for a Kota birth, nor is Kota a backup for a Jaipur birth. Rajasthan is not specific enough for either.
When the birth really was in Kota
Use the hospital time in Indian Standard Time. Do not shift it because the student later sat exams in a different season, and do not add daylight saving because a cousin abroad says summer clocks move. They do not move in India. The Vimshottari dasha already running is counted from that recorded instant, not from the month classes began.
Career questions and the 10th
Exam results and jobs are read from the birth chart's 10th house and its lord, plus the dasha in force. They are not read from a chart cast for the coaching city unless the person was born there. The zodiac is sidereal, Lahiri ayanamsa, Swiss Ephemeris. A free account can generate the Kundli of the real birth and chat about it.

Frequently asked questions
Does vedic astrology treat a Kota hostel as the birth city?
No. Use Kota only when the birth was in Kota. Otherwise keep the birth city on the certificate. Indian cities use Asia/Kolkata, with no daylight saving.
I was born in Kota. Does summer change my offset?
No. Asia/Kolkata stays UTC plus 5 hours 30 minutes all year. Enter the time on the record. Daylight saving is not used.
Is Jaipur's solar noon the one to use for Kota?
No. Jaipur is west of the Mirzapur meridian, so solar noon there falls after 12:00. A Kota birth is geocoded as Kota, on Indian Standard Time.
