Vedic astrology in Johannesburg, UTC plus 2 without a summer jump
Johannesburg births in vedic astrology use Africa/Johannesburg at UTC plus 2, and the country does not move the clocks for daylight saving. June can be winter and the offset is still the one used in December. The season feels opposite to an Indian calendar and still does not insert a legal hour. The city is geocoded as Johannesburg, and UTC plus 2 is applied before the Julian day to the local time on the record.

Winter is not a zone change
Short June days tempt people who know European daylight saving to look for a clock change. There is none. A birth at 7:20 in the morning uses that offset in midwinter and in midsummer. Cape Town uses this same zone name and the same lack of daylight saving, and Cape Town is still a different city. Do not type the other one because the zone is easier to remember than the birthplace.
Indian time is not the household default
Asia/Kolkata, UTC plus 5 hours 30 minutes, with no daylight saving, is correct for an Indian birth and wrong for a Johannesburg hospital. If a family book already did the conversion, reverse it and enter local time with this city. Selecting Johannesburg on top of an IST figure applies UTC plus 2 to the wrong clock. The lagna will look precise and be early or late.
Dasha from the civil instant
The Vimshottari dasha already running follows that local instant on a sidereal chart, Lahiri ayanamsa, Swiss Ephemeris. Marriage is the 7th house, its lord, and D9. Nothing in the season adds a southern rule. A free account can generate the Kundli and chat. A PDF and WhatsApp transit alerts are paid additions and assume the city was Johannesburg if that is the birth.
