Vedic astrology in Jodhpur on Asia/Kolkata
Jodhpur is its own city for vedic astrology, not a stand-in spelling of Jaipur, and the year-round zone is Asia/Kolkata. India does not observe daylight saving, so a desert summer does not move the hour. Jaipur is west of the meridian near Mirzapur and has solar noon after 12:00. That sentence is about Jaipur. A Jodhpur birth is geocoded as Jodhpur, at UTC plus 5 hours 30 minutes, with the time the record shows.

Similar names, different places
A hurried form can swap the cities because both are famous and both sit in Rajasthan. The geocoder will not ask whether you meant the other one. It will build a chart. If the certificate says Jodhpur, resist the relative who says Jaipur is 'the main one.' Same national offset, different place. The lagna is allowed to care.
Heat is not daylight saving
Long, bright evenings in summer feel like a clock change. They are not one. Daylight saving is a legal change of offset, and this zone does not have it. A May birth and a November birth in Jodhpur share Asia/Kolkata. Adding an hour because the day felt long is how a recorded time becomes a preferred time.
The Gulf address comes afterward
Many families later live where the clock is UTC plus 3 or UTC plus 4, with no daylight saving of its own. That clock is right for a child born there. It is wrong for a person born in Jodhpur. Career is the 10th house and its lord of the birth chart. The present city can feed a transit watch. It does not replace the 10th.

Frequently asked questions
Does vedic astrology use Jaipur's solar noon for Jodhpur?
No. Jaipur is west of the Mirzapur meridian, so solar noon there falls after 12:00. Jodhpur uses Asia/Kolkata with no daylight saving, and is geocoded as Jodhpur.
Is Rajasthan itself a valid birth city?
No. Enter Jodhpur when that is the city on the record. The state is too broad to geocode to a hospital.
How is marriage timed once Jodhpur is correct?
From the 7th house, its lord, and D9, using the Vimshottari dasha already running. No dasha year is taken from the city's history.
