Jersey City vedic astrology where the river adds no hour
Jersey City vedic astrology is timed on America/New_York, Eastern time with daylight saving, for Hudson County on the waterfront opposite Manhattan. Crossing the Hudson does not add or drop an hour. A 12:20 a.m. birth is still the Eastern offset for that date, including nights when daylight saving has already moved the clock.

Opposite Manhattan, same zone rule
Hudson County faces the river and uses America/New_York. New York City uses that zone too. The cities are not one birthplace. A 12:20 a.m. birth has already entered the new civil date. Keep that date. In summer the offset is daylight time. In winter it is standard time. The water does not insert a third offset between the shores.
The 10th just after midnight
Career is the 10th house and its lord of the lagna at 12:20 a.m., not of 11:40 p.m. the night before, unless the certificate says that. Daylight saving moves the instant by an hour and can move the 10th. The dasha already running times a change of work. No year is taken from the skyline across the river.
Type the waterfront city
Enter Jersey City. jyothish.si geocodes Hudson County's city, applies the Eastern offset, and can show the Kundli free. Chat can discuss the 10th. Lahiri sidereal signs are used. A PDF and WhatsApp transit alerts are paid. Edison, inland in Middlesex County, is a different page and a different place.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Hudson change the hour?
No. Jersey City uses America/New_York with daylight saving, the same zone rule as Manhattan. The cities still geocode separately.
What about a birth at 12:20 a.m.?
Keep the date that contains 12:20 a.m. The Eastern offset for that date sets the lagna and the 10th. Summer and winter differ by an hour.
What is the career house?
The 10th and its lord. The dasha already running times a change. The river does not name an employer.
