Jacksonville vedic astrology, not the panhandle clock
Jacksonville vedic astrology clocks a birth on America/New_York because Duval County sits on the Florida peninsula, where the zone is Eastern and daylight saving applies. Pensacola, in the panhandle, is Central. A Jacksonville birth does not inherit that panhandle offset.

Peninsula and panhandle
Florida is split. Jacksonville, on the peninsula, uses Eastern time. The western panhandle, including Pensacola, uses Central time. A family that moved from the panhandle can stamp the wrong zone on a Duval County birth out of habit. Check the hospital city before you argue about the sun sign.
The 10th moves if the hour is wrong
Career is the 10th house and its lord. An hour of Central offset on an Eastern birth can change the lagna, and the 10th moves with the lagna. Once America/New_York is in place, a change of work is timed by the Vimshottari dasha already running. The city does not pick that period.
Minutes before the day count
The Eastern offset, in minutes, is folded in before the Julian day the ephemeris uses. Near a sign boundary that clerical step is the whole chart. Daylight saving changes the minutes. A free Kundli on jyothish.si does this for the date you enter, and chat can explain the lagna. A PDF is separate and paid.

Frequently asked questions
Why is Jacksonville not on Central time?
Duval County is on the peninsula. That part of Florida uses America/New_York with daylight saving. Central time here is the panhandle, including Pensacola.
Can the wrong Florida zone move the career house?
Yes. An hour of offset error can change the lagna, and the 10th moves with it. Use the Eastern offset.
What can I open free?
